100 Words Contest

This is a Free to Write contest, hosted by [Emily]!

Rules

This is a contest that is slightly confusing, but totally worth doing.

You must write a paragraph following these terms:

- 100 words exactly in length, no more and no less.

- No repeating of any words. This includes 'a', 'the', 'it', 'I', 'me', etc.

- Themes?: No theme. It can be totally random. Go from space to the wild if you want to.

Purpose

The purpose of this exercise is to see what you can do before you have to crack out a thesaraus and/or dictionary. I suggest that you try this exercise monthly, yearly, whatever, but do it more than once. See how far your vocabulary can take you!

Scoring and Info

I will score based on if you followed the rules, and then content. It's okay if your paragraph is random, I will not bias you on if it all fits in a nice little compact theme or not. Grammar and punctuation is a given. Any errors in spelling or grammar will dock points. Creativity will earn you more points.

1. Paragraph form only.

2. Original work only, please copyright.

3. Spellcheck, grammar, the regular will help you in points or harm you in points, depending on how you use this godly power.

4. 100 words only. NO more, NO less.

5. Deadline is January 29th, 2006.

6. Submissions with overt sexual themes may be okay, but they should be privately messaged to me, ([Emily],) for review.

For an example, see 252.Miscellaneous Material.Wonder Sitting on the Docks

Thank you [Mister Saint] for the general layout of how to do a contest clearly and precisely, and also, thank you for the dividers at WritersCo Graphics!

Please be sure to message [Emily] not to write a contest wiki page late into the wee hours because then she finds herself doing many, many edits...

2006-01-09 [SleepingDragon]: A tough exercise, hope I did it right.

2006-01-10 [Emily]: Thanks so much [SleepingDragon]! It fits the rules and content wonderfully. Also a fun read. Salvation has arrived, choo-choo!

2006-01-10 [Mister Saint]: Excellent rewrite on the rules Emily, this is exactly what I'd hoped to see. ^_^

2006-01-10 [Emily]: Whoo hoo!

2006-01-11 [Kuzco]: Damn this is a tough one. Very good idea no doubt, but DAMN this is a tough one. ;) (for me at least)

2006-01-11 [Emily]: I can always extend the time if anyone needs it. It's a fun little project. My suggestion is that you just start writing and don't stop. Find what you like and use it.

2006-01-11 [Kuzco]: And that's a good suggestion. But it's hard for me to write something decent without repeating "the, is, a, than, that" etc. but nah, no need to extend it. It's just 100 words right? ;)

2006-01-11 [Kuzco]: Let it never be said I didn't try...cheers, I'm off to bed

2006-01-11 [Emily]: YAY! Thanks so much Kuzco!

2006-01-11 [Moonlit Serenade]: Now I just need time to do it.

2006-01-11 [Emily]: -urgeurge-

2006-01-11 [Mister Saint]: *provides moral support by waggling weasel-shaped pom-poms*
